How Adaptive Clothing Works

Adaptive clothing by definition refers to garments that are created to be easily worn by those with various disabilities. When it comes to patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, their disabilities are many times both physical and neurological, so the adaptive clothing for them reflects that. Not only is adaptive clothing meant to be easy to wear for the patient, but it also allows caregivers or loved ones to easily assist the patient in whatever dressing needs they may require.

Clothing that Helps

Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s is a disease in which the brain slowly deteriorates and progresses over time. While the patient is suffering from it, they lose their short-term memory and can often become disoriented as a result of this. Adaptive clothing allows a caregiver to help them undress, while preventing the patient from disrobing while they’re confused.
